St. George Forane Church, Edappally
This Roman Catholic church was built way back in AD 593 in a plot of land donated by the raja of Edappally. Historical records says that a session of the Synod of Diamper (Udayamperoor), 1599, was held here. The church is also well known for its annually held nine-day feast in May.

St. Mary's Church, Vallarpadam
St. Mary's church is located in the middle of Vallarpadam island across the backwaters from the mainland Ernakulam This popular shrine was built by the Portuguese missionaries in 1524. History has it that the old church, which was then known as the Church of the Holy Spirit, was destroyed in floods in the 17th century and a new church was built on the same spot in 1676. It was declared a special church by Pope Leo XIII in 1888. In 1951, the Union Government declared it a major pilgrim centre. The church was declared the status of a basilica on February 12, 2005. The church has the famous picture of the 'blessed Virgin Mary' which the Portuguese brought from their native land.

Santa Cruz Basilica, Fort Cochin
This Roman Catholic church is situated near the St.Francis church is a specimen of portugese architecture built in 1558. "Frescoes" and mural paintings decorate the ceiling and interior parts of the church. During the Dutch conquest of Cochin in 1663, all Catholic monuments, except a few, were crushed. One of the decorative granite pillars of the destroyed church is preserved as a relic in the basilica.

St. Francis Church Fort Cochin
This Protestant church, originally built by the Portuguese in 1510 AD, is believed to be the oldest existing European church in India. Vasco da Gama was originally buried here in 1524 AD before his remains were sent to Lisbon, 14 years later. In spite of that the exact place where he was buried has been marked out inside the church. Closed on Sundays

Mar Thoma Syro-Malabar Catholic Church
The apostle St Thomas is believed to have landed in Kodungallur in 52 A.D. He established the church, which is believed to be the first Christian church in India. It still houses ancient relics which are displayed to visitors at certain times.

Malayattoor
Malayattor Kurisumudy is a mountain at Maiayattoor, 1269 'Ft. above sea level. Kurisumudy has its fame as a place visited by St. Thomas, one of the Apostles of Jesus Christ who sowed the seeds of Christianity in India. The chief festival is on the first Sunday after Easter.
